The project

The AMARA project is TBAD’s bold exploration of architecture and interior design in harmony with nature. With clean architectural lines, open volumes, and immersive landscaping, AMARA redefines modern luxury living in South Africa. This project demonstrates TBAD’s ability to curate “SPACES” that feel sculpted, alive, and deeply connected to their environment, while remaining uncompromising in luxury. Walking through AMARA, one encounters striking architectural geometry, softened by layers of natural light and greenery. The upper gallery corridor, with its linear lighting and glass balustrades, speaks to a philosophy of transparency and flow. The design creates uninterrupted sightlines, guiding the eye from the architectural volumes to the outdoor landscape. This blending of indoor and outdoor living is a hallmark of TBAD’s approach to lifestyle creation, ensuring that every movement through the home feels like part of a story. The exteriors reveal AMARA’s deep respect for nature. Outdoor lounges and dining terraces extend seamlessly from the interiors, framed by lush gardens and water features. In one view, the outdoor dining area opens to a landscaped garden, softened by ambient lighting that enhances the evening experience. These spaces are not add-ons, but rather intentional extensions of the home, designed to invite community, relaxation, and reflection. AMARA’s interiors are defined by dramatic contrasts: dark architectural finishes balanced with warm lighting and natural textures. The main staircase is a centrepiece — a sculptural element suspended in space, lit with refined precision, making movement through the home a sensory experience. Pendant lighting installations draw the eye upward, reinforcing the sense of scale and verticality while adding theatrical beauty to the double-volume spaces. The outdoor living environment completes the vision. Poolside pavilions with louvered shading create spaces of retreat, while the water’s reflective surfaces bring a calming rhythm to the home’s edge. Landscaping is lush but intentional, balancing architectural sharpness with organic softness. Each element is placed not only for beauty, but for lifestyle: sunbathing, entertaining, or simply pausing to reconnect with nature. At night, AMARA transforms. The interplay of architectural lighting, reflections across water features, and the glow of curated gardens create an atmosphere that is both dramatic and serene. It is here that TBAD’s philosophy is most evident: a home is not only a structure, but an experience, designed to change with the time of day, the seasons, and the lives of those who inhabit it. From interiors layered with bespoke finishes to exteriors that embrace South Africa’s natural beauty, AMARA stands as a masterclass in contemporary architecture and luxury lifestyle design. It demonstrates TBAD’s ability to craft living environments that are at once timeless, innovative, and deeply human. With AMARA, TBAD once again underscores its vision: every home is a stage for life, and every detail a brushstroke in the art of living.
